Things have been busy around here, so I haven’t had time to blog much. (hint: I’m moving to a new office/studio soon!)

Anyways, Margaret and Jason’s wedding from a couple of weeks ago led us on a whirlwind tour of San Francisco!

We started at the grand Fairmont Hotel on top of Nob Hill where the bridal party got ready. After that was a morning ceremony at the historical St. Peter and Paul in North Beach, followed by a fun (and wet!) frollicking at Baker Beach. We then headed over to the tourist-filled Union Square, and finally ended at Yank Sing / Rincon Center for the reception. Whew….what a day!

Here are some highlights from the wedding!

I get many requests asking for help on using SLR cameras and photography in general. So today, I held an intro to digital SLR photography course for a few interested students.

It was fun and the attendants got a chance to practice shooting afterwards.

I love engagement shoots. In fact, I love *long* engagement shoots, because it allows us (photographer and couple) to take our time and try out different things. It gives the couple an opportunity to change into different outfits and play different roles throughout the shoot.

Several of my couples this year have scheduled 3 to 4 hour engagement sessions….so I’m excited!

I purposely don’t give much instructions to my couples for outfit selections, because I really want them to choose what they feel comfortable in, and to wear things that represent their personality and style.

Tommy and Genevieve did just that this weekend. During our 3+ hour shoot, we captured a great number of images and came out with quite a “fashion” feel to their photos!

Shooting models is a creative outlet for me - it gives me an opportunity to try different poses, expressions, looks, etc. that I normally wouldn’t do for weddings.

The model for today is Lauren, who is very adept at working her facial expressions!

Linda and Ed chose two great locations for their wedding: Stanford (alma mater) and Four Seasons (2 minutes from me). I know the coordinators from both sites very well, so it feels like “home” when I’m shooting there.

Having lived on campus for four years, I never really came to appreciate the architecture of the Stanford buildings until after I began shooting weddings there.

I loved the details from Linda and Ed’s weddings! From the choice in flowers…

To the little jewels on her toes!

Dramatic lighting at Four Seasons.

I love this pose!
